Seven Ways to Help an Author + Book Giveaway!

There are so many good books out in the wide, wide world!

We've gone through a recent decluttering effort, but we didn't get rid of many books. I just couldn't bear to and neither could the children. They aren't knick-knacks or dust collectors. Those books are experiences. The characters inside are dear friends who have gone through great adventures with me. I've learned and grown alongside with them.

Now that I have a book published (I've actually written five, but four are tucked away), I realize what effort it took for those authors to create such works. It's not easy, and as a reader, I gradually learned what I could do to help my favorite authors.

When you find a favorite book or author, you can be a big help to her or him. Here's how ~

Pray for her, her writing, her spiritual life, her family. Writing is a difficult business and can be emotionally and spiritually exhausting. Even when the story isn't based on anything personal from the writer's life, it can be draining to create emotional havoc for pretend people and then figure out a way for them to get out of it. Also, those of us who write inspirational stories, stories of faith, come under spiritual attack.

Leave a review on Amazon, Goodreads, Christian Book...anywhere. Especially if it's a good review! J Even if it's just a sentence or two, your review could positively impact other buyers. Reviews are easy to post and easy to read, and most buyers read reviews before they make a decision.

Ask the library to get the book on their shelves. Did you know most libraries will purchase a book they don't already have if a patron requests it? How cool is that?!

Tell your friends and family about the book.

Buy another book and give it as a gift.

Post about the book on social media or your blog.

Read it for your book club or group.

Thank you for traveling this road with me!
