The One Where We Go to the Homeschool Convention ~ Homeschool Week Wrap-Up

Happy weekend!

I don't normally do these posts by the seat of my skirt, but I really wanted this week's wrap-up to include a few photos from the first day of the homeschool convention we're attending with Indiana Association of Home Educators. So, it'll be a brief hodge-podge, and it's late and we're tired, but I really wanted to say how WONDERFUL a homeschool convention is!

Unfortunately, we started the week with a little sickness. L

The 9yo woke up Monday with a fever and an upset tummy. My biggest worry was being able to go to the homeschool convention this weekend. Bugs don’t typically stop with just one child in a family, as you know. I asked Facebook friends to pray on Tuesday morning, and by Tuesday evening the fever was gone. Social media can bring us a lot of headaches, but it can also bring a multitude of blessings.

By Friday morning, she was just a little sniffly and tired but eager for the new adventure of a convention.

All right, I'll admit I was a little bit starstruck, even 35 years later ~

The 13yo brought Farmer Boy for Dean Butler to autograph. I wonder if it feels odd to sign a book you didn't write but whose main character you portrayed on TV?

My husband took the photo, and the 4yo was asleep in the stroller. I'm not sure the 6yo quite realized that the man we were talking to was the same as the man he had seen on the DVD. J We girls definitely recognized him as Almanzo.

We've heard Ken Ham from Answers in Genesis speak a number of times, and it's never the same but always fantastic ~

I'm realizing I don't have that many photos, so I think I better snap, snap, snap tomorrow.

And now, bed. Early to bed, early to rise, or I'll need a coffee that's super-size.

Prayers for a fantastic weekend!

  1. Sounds neat! Well, I've seen way too many fire engines over the years; my dh is a fire captain, but I'd love to wander around and see all the vendors and flip through all the curriculum!

  2. Oh, glad the sickies left so you all could get to the convention! I haven't gone to a convention in years now, but I remember how refreshing and exciting they were, especially coming back and planning another school year! How cool to meet Dean Butler!

I so much appreciate your time and effort in leaving a comment, and I try to respond to as many as time permits. :-)
