The One Where We Study, Lose Teeth, and Schedule a Final Inspection ~ Homeschool Week Wrap-Up

Woo-hoo! Friday in October! What can get better than that?

A few highlights of our week….

*Apart from school, the 14yo is studying nearly every spare moment for the Bible Bee. Less than three weeks left! It has warmed my heart not only to see her embrace this opportunity but also to see her siblings give of their time to quiz her on the 175 passages she’s learning. Even the 5yo, who only knows the look and sound of the alphabet, wants to quiz her.

Her newest hobby is perusing the Bible commentary apps I downloaded to the iPad. Makes my little nerd mama heart go pitter-pat! J

*A bit of ninth-grade science got beyond my capabilities this week, and our resident professor {aka Dad} had to step in and do some ‘splaining. Whew! Grateful for his rescue. J

*A little homeschool at the PlayPlace while we were out restocking Mother Hubbard’s cupboard.

*The 10yo lost two teeth this week, yet even this simple rite of passage becomes a homeschool review opportunity. The 8yo was quick to identify them as molars that grind your food. The 14yo’s comeback was that the mouth can also be called the oral cavity. The 10yo was just glad to have them out.

*When I was in college, I began underlining every word I looked up in my collegiate dictionary with the goal of reading the entire thing. I looked up a lot of words as an English major, but I didn’t even make a dent. So when the 10yo needed a dictionary while working on Language at the library, he brought back this ginormous book. Wonder how long it would take to read all that? J

*Tracing/drawing with the 8yo….

*…and the 3yo’s fashion highlight of the week. J

Building our home this week…

Countertops and sinks!

We also have almost all the first floor baseboard in, and we’ve scheduled our final inspection for today at 1:00. Eeek! This could be it…or not. We think we’ve met all the code requirements, but we’ve never done this before. J

Take heart, sweet homeschooling mama! Breathe deep, pray, and stay the course. Have a terrific weekend! J

  1. How exciting!!!! PRAY all goes well with the inspection. You all have had a busy week.

    1. Thanks for the prayers, Charlotte. Whatever God wills. No news yet on the inspection. He found a few problems that are easily completed, and he wanted to check the code book on something else. He was supposed to get back with us this afternoon or Saturday. It's a good thing we hadn't planned to move this weekend. :-)

I so much appreciate your time and effort in leaving a comment, and I try to respond to as many as time permits. :-)
